TeamGroup has launched the T-Create Expert AI series of LPDDR5X CAMM2 memory modules. The lineup includes models with data transfer rates of 7200 MT/s and 6400 MT/s. They offer low latency, with CL28 and CL24 respectively.
The T-Create Expert AI LPDDR5X CAMM2 memory modules will be available in 32 GB and 64 GB versions. TeamGroup formalizes its position as the third RAM manufacturer, following Crucial (a Micron subsidiary) and Kingston, to introduce memory modules in this new form factor.
The T-Create Expert AI LPDDR5X-7500 CAMM2 and LPDDR5X-6400 CAMM2 modules deliver bandwidths of 60 GB/s and 51.2 GB/s respectively. The new modules are equipped with thin graphene plates that serve as radiators.
The pricing of the T-Create Expert AI LPDDR5X CAMM2 memory modules hasn’t been disclosed by TeamGroup. However, previously released modules in the same format from Crucial are priced at $179.99 for 32 GB and $329.99 for 64 GB. The cost is largely driven by the novelty of the standard at this stage. As the format becomes more common, these new form factor RAM modules are expected to become more affordable, provide greater capacity, and offer even lower latency.
The CAMM2 format is being considered by some in the industry as an evolutionary link in the development of RAM. The new form factor occupies less space within a laptop compared to the conventional SO-DIMM RAM formats. Additionally, it supports faster memory and offers improved energy efficiency. Lenovo was the first company to release a laptop supporting CAMM2 memory modules. Other laptop manufacturers are expected to announce similar solutions at the Computex 2024 exhibit.
