Magnetic Hard Disk Drives (HDD) continue to be a popular option for external storage, offering reliable long-term data retention at a fair price. To meet the increasing data demands of users, Western Digital has released new 2.5 inch, 6 Terabyte (TB) external HDDs.
Series and products
The new HDDs are available in the My Passport and My Passport Ultra range for standard PC use, both at home or in the office. The WD Black P10 Game Drive caters to gamers, while the SanDisk Professional G-Drive ArmorATD is designed for rugged use, withstanding vibrations and moisture. Western Digital has also launched hard drives specifically for Apple computers under the WD My Passport Ultra for Mac and WD My Passport for Mac series. Most of these products are equipped with a USB Type-C port, except for the more affordable My Passport, which offers Micro USB Type-B. All products use a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface with a speed of 5 Gbps.
Features and benefits
The My Passport Ultra series supports 256-bit AES encryption to safeguard sensitive data, with both Mac and Windows versions available at the same price. The gamer-centric WD Black P10 Game Drive offers expanded storage for gaming consoles and is also PC-compatible via the micro-USB port. Finally, the IP54 dust and water-resistant SanDisk Professional G-Drive ArmorATD can withstand weights of up to 450 kg, but this robustness increases its weight from 250 g to 350 g and its overall dimensions.
