 What is that microphone? Hi,
New to the board and to the XV 6600, but have learned a lot already. I Have a question that someone might could answer…. In the phone mode on the bottom of the screen there is a microphone with an x beside of it. When I place a call it lights up and if you touch it with the stylus it goes back dim again…. What is that icon for? what does it do? ALSO – what battery would you recommend as a spare (hopefully more powerful) Thanks, Leon |

Based on recommendations on this forum I ordered the 2200mAH battery from Lion Battery and have been very pleased with it. At least one person wrote that this battery didn’t fit the phone correctly, but mine’s a perfect fit.
http://etxquc.simplyonline.com/default.cfm As for the microphone symbol, that’s the mute button when in a call. That’s why the X only turns red when a call is active. If you tap it, the entire icon’s background color turns white and the same symbol appears at the top of the screen just to the left of the Verizon “V” to let you know that the call is muted. As would be expected, tapping again unmutes. If your icon goes dim; i.e. the same as when a call is not active and doesn’t work as above, you might reset the phone to see if that helps because it should act as I stated above. I would suspect loose battery contacts. If the contacts are spring loaded, make sure they come out far enough to make good contact with the battery. Also, if you have been handling the battery a lot you may have body oil built up on the contacts of the battery and/or the PDA. Try cleaning both with a Q-Tip dipped in alcohol. This will cut the oil. If the contacts have become corroded, or look like dark brass instead of bright shiny brass, rub them with a pencil eraser. Just be carefull not to damage them while rubbing. I have two std batteries and one Mugen 2200. I had swapped the two std batteries back and forth several times with no problem before I purchased the Mugen battery. The first time I swapped from the Mugen back to the std battery the XV6600 actually did a hard reset. Since that incident the XV6600 has done this once when swapping back to the std battery and a 3rd time which was like the first. I contacted Lion and they stated that due to incidents they had seen reported when only the std batteries were being used that they are confident it is an XV6600 issue and not a Mugen battery issue. He supplied me with a link to a different forum that was discussing this issue. On that forum the proposed solution was to do a soft reset before swapping batteries. So far no recurrence.
That said, it sounds like you are talking about something different. If the XV6600 is spontaneously rebooting while the battery is installed, you may have a bad battery. __________________ [B]Chas Samsung i730 Purchased 7/28/2005 |

I had to spend a while Googling about before I found the answer. The XV6600 manual didn’t tell how this worked either. Fortunately, that feature works the same on both phones. I had the phone replaced….once I started using the 2200ma battery…my phone started the random reboots again (even in a phone call). I am now on my THIRD 6600 and have NOT used the 2200ma battery this time. My phone has been acting just fine with no random reboots or the other “Strange” issues I have seen previously? Anyone have any thoughts? I *REALLY* need a longer life battery but I just cannot deal with all of these problems that (at least to me) appear to be caused by the battery. I really need a suggestion…. |
