New Technology Could Dramatically Impact Network Systems and Software Development Companies

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. –(Business Wire)– May 12, 2004 Calypso Wireless, Inc. (OTC:CLYW), in the effort, to make ASNAP(TM) the de facto standard, is in negotiations with one of the largest software companies to incorporate ASNAP(TM) technology into their OS (Operating System). This could result in substantial licensing revenues for Calypso over the life of the patent. Its patent will have major implications on network equipment and software vendors like: Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT), Cisco (Nasdaq:CSCO), Lucent (NYSE:LU) and Qualcomm (Nasdaq:QCOM).

Calypso’s recently granted U.S. Patent # 6,680,923 titled “Communication system and method” covers the seamless roaming of voice, video and data between Wide Area Network access points, such as cellular towers (GSM/GPRS/EDGE, CDMA, WCMDA etc.) and short-range Internet access points (such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.). Calypso Wireless is in the process of contacting all major manufactures of telecom gear and Internet switches and routers to notify them of this patent.

Calypso’s technology enables mobile users to seamlessly switch between cellular and wireless IP networks via the WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network), accelerating wireless broadband deployment. The technology could also provide significant savings to mobile carriers in additional frequency spectrum and infrastructure equipment by offloading capacity to the WLAN and IP networks while increasing their revenues by introducing new services. Internet-ready devices — including wireless phones, PDA’s and notebooks — can seamlessly connect to either the mobile carriers cellular phone network or any wireless LAN, such as 802.11x (Wi-Fi). In other words, global connectivity of voice, video and data will be done through the most efficient connection point, at a lower cost to both the mobile carrier and the consumer.

Handset and network gear software developers and network gear producers will be able to expand their market share by offering products that incorporate Calypso’s ASNAP(TM) technology.
