I have not tried it but several folks have used a phone card in the CF slot. I’m not sure how well it works on waking the unit up…I seem to recall someone indicating it was a problem.
Laura…if you read this, did you get your 4700 to work as a phone? __________________ Jack Cook Senior Editor, Dave’s iPAQ Microsoft MVP – Windows Mobile Devices NEW Dont forget our Podcast hotline telephone number in the US: 1-425-738-9506 available 24 hours a day 7 days a week or leave us a SKYPE Voicemail by clicking here . I just found a post that Laura replied to…it sounds as if she was able to get her 4700 to work fine. Look here. __________________ Jack Cook Senior Editor, Dave’s iPAQ

Yes , as shown in the thread referred to by Jack, I have the CF GSM/GPRS modem card with my 4700 , and this gives me cell phone capability. I use the card mainly for internet access and have only used it to make phone calls a few times – so I cannot really give a decent review of it, though I can try things out if you would like ?
