Announcement: Sonic Rumble – Fall Guys Style Battle Royale from the Creators of Angry Birds

Sega is venturing into a new area of action gaming, taking its popular Sonic the Hedgehog franchise to a battle royale format with Sonic Rumble, to be launched in 2022.

The new project, Sonic Rumble, is a 32-player mobile battle royale game produced in collaboration with Finish studio Rovio (known for Angry Birds), now under Sega’s wing since 2023.

Set in a distorted toy world crafted by villain Dr. Eggman, players take the role of animated figurines of characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog universe.

In Sonic Rumble, players must participate in exciting battle royale challenges, gathering as many rings as possible while proving their speed in the toy box.

Fans can look forward to customising iconic Sonic the Hedgehog characters unveiled in Sonic Rumble, forging unique avatars.

Judging by the attached 45-second preview trailer for Sonic Rumble, gameplay appears similar to the popular multiplayer arcade game, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.

Sonic Rumble will be released in the winter of 2024 for iOS and Android. A closed beta-testing will occur from May 24 to May 26, exclusively for US residents, potential volunteers can sign up via the official website from May 19.
