Rumors have been confirmed that following the success of the fantasy role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3, Belgian Larian Studios plans to open a new subdivision in Europe.
Early in February, two reliable informants from the portal Gamepressure reported that Larian supposedly has plans to establish a studio in a Polish city, with Warsaw being called out as the most evident choice.
Three months later, through a post on their microblog, Larianconfirmed the decision to start its new subdivision, named Larian Studios Warsaw, which indeed is based in the Polish capital.
With this latest addition, Larian Studios now boasts seven offices: the head office in Ghent (Belgium), others in Quebec (Canada), Barcelona (Spain), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Dublin (Ireland), Guildford (England), and now Warsaw (Poland).
Larian Studios Warsaw was announced at the Krakow Digital Dragons developers conference where Larian’s head, Swen Vincke, gave one of his latest lectures on the creation of Baldur’s Gate 3.
Larian explains that the establishment of Larian Studios Warsaw will help in realizing the vision of “two extremely ambitious RPGs” which the studio has now taken over the development. Certainly, Baldur’s Gate 4 is not among them.
In Vincke’s perspective, Larian Studios’ next game will be its “best work”. In January, the head detailed that the first act had already been decided. Furthermore, it is quite likely that the project will go through a period of early access.
