BioWare Confirms New Title ‘Dragon Age: Dreadwolf’ and Announces a 15-Minute Gameplay Showcase

Following recent speculation, BioWare, a studio owned by Electronic Arts, has unveiled their plans to showcase the highly anticipated fantasy RPG, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, and confirmed the game’s name change.

It’s worth noting that the new Dragon Age title was confirmed back in December 2018 and was given the subheading Dreadwolf in June 2022. A comprehensive game presentation was scheduled for this summer.

Recently, Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb hinted that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf would appear at the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase 2024 with a different subheading.

In a new announcement, BioWare revealed that the next entry in the series is now named Dragon Age: The Veilguard. According to the developers, this subheading better embodies the spirit of the project.

BioWare has opted to focus on the player’s allies, a unique and “memorable” crew of seven heroes, in the subheading rather than their enemies. However, the Dreadwolf still plays a significant role in the plot.

As for the game’s demonstration, a trailer featuring over 15 minutes of Dragon Age: The Veilguard gameplay will be released on the Dragon Age YouTube channel at 6 p.m. Moscow time on 11 June. This doesn’t rule out the potential showcasing of the project on 9 June at the Xbox show.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is being developed for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5, Xbox Series X, and S. The story centers around the fate of Thedas teetering on the edge – players are challenged to weather the storm and “ignite a beacon of hope in the darkest of times.”
