Compact SSDs for laptops and consoles IRDM M.2 2230 Pro Nano with speeds up to 7300MB/s Introduced

The IRDM gaming brand from the Polish manufacturer of operational memory and solid state drives, Wilk Electronik SA, known mostly by its brand Goodram, has introduced a high-speed compact storage series, M.2 2230 Pro Nano compliant with the PCIe 4.0 standard. These SSDs are designed for laptops and portable gaming consoles.

The IRDM Pro Nano storage series includes models with capacities of 512 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB. The manufacturer claims the base model has sequential read and write speeds of 5100 MB/s and 4600 MB/s, random read and write performance of up to 780 thousand and 920 thousand IOPS respectively. The endurance is listed as 300 TBW (terabytes of rewritten information).

Performance data of SSD

The 1 TB and 2 TB models are shown to have sequential read and write speeds of up to 7300 MB/s and 6000 MB/s respectively, along with random read and write operations of up to 750 thousand and 850 thousand IOPS. Their endurance is listed as 600 TBW and 1200 TBW respectively.

It is important to note that such performance figures can only be achieved with portable gaming consoles which support the SSD standard PCIe 4.0 x4. For instance, the popular Steam Deck from Valve only supports the PCIe 3.0 x4 standard, meaning it will not fully utilize these new SSDs, though they will still function in this console.
