Ipaq 5500

I have an Ipaq 5500 and it will not come on. No light, absolutely nothing. I had a spare battery and put that in it and absolutely nothing. Zip! Nada! What happened and can it be fixed? (

Welcome to Dave’s IPaq. You might just need to reactivate the battery. You may as well go thru the total hard reset procedure…. press and hold lower left and lower right buttons whilst pressing reset button on bottom with stylus. Hold these three buttons for at least 4 seconds until display fades then you need to reactivate battery – remove and reinstall battery connect to AC power press reset button on bottom with stylus

Regards,

Try hitting the reset button by itself without the other buttons being pushed.

Also try holding the reset button in for a few seconds.

Also tried that and I still have a blank screen. No light comes on at all. I followed your steps twice and still a blank screen.

Inspect the battery contacts to make sure they are not damaged and are making contact with the battery. Try plugging in the charger and see if it will come on while plugged into the charger.

I tried that coming into work this morning and no, it still doesn’t come on. I put in a battery that I verified was a good one and that did not work. So, whether it’s in the cradle, direct connection from the wall outlet or any other connection, the screen is blank and the amber light does not come on at all. When I connect it via the wall outlet, after about an hour, the battery is warm to the touch. I have tried a hard reset and tried all the steps that you and Laura have provided to no avail. Any suggestions?

the alternative hard-reset method for those stubborn iPAQs!!; 1. Take the main battery out, and leave it out for a couple of hours (to ensure the backup battery goes flat too). 2. Then pop the main battery back in, give the iPAQ a soft-reset then immediately plug it into mains power. Hopefully it will boot. Plan B – can you swap main batteries with anyone? That can also make a difference.. Good luck..

James.

I agree with James, those are the the final steps that I could give for you to try. If this fails, then you have a dead iPaq. There are companies that can repair the unit for you. We recommend Pocket PC Tech’s for our US members and I recommend iPaq Repair for our UK and European visitors.

Good Luck,

All of that did not work. I most certainly appreciate all of the assistance in this matter. Looks like I have a “dead” Ipaq. I’ll get hold of Pocket PC Tech’s on how to handle sending it to them. Thank you, once again. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Sorry that none of our sugestions worked for you. Pocket PC Tech’s will take care of you and treat you fairly. I have sent many of our members to them and all of them have been satisfied.
