“Finally, Dark Souls 4 debuts”: Dark Souls 3 transforming mod, Dark Souls: Archthrones releases long-awaited demo version.

On March 15, as promised, the demo version of Dark Souls: Archthrones, an ambitious modification for the fantasy action RPG Dark Souls 3, was released. The launch was accompanied by a new gameplay trailer.

The demo version of Dark Souls: Archthrones can be downloaded for free from its page on the Nexus Mods website and the official project website. A copy of Dark Souls 3, including all the additions, is required to run the mod.

Installation of Dark Souls: Archthrones involves moving the contents of the archive to the Game folder with the executable Dark Souls 3 file, and then selecting English language in the Steam game properties (support for other languages will be added later).

The developers also disclosed the minimum system requirements for the Dark Souls: Archthrones demo. These are as follows:

Minimum Requirements:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-9400F
  • Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • Storage: 12 GB

The one-and-a-half-minute Dark Souls: Archthrones gameplay trailer, in line with the demo release, showcases new enemies, bosses and mod locations, and teases at the narrative content.

Eager viewers who have waited for the demo (the release had been expected as far back as last September) are appreciating the developers in their comments and joking about the modification’s ambition. “Dark Souls 4 has finally come out,” semi-seriously announced RandomMishaps.

The creators label Archthrones unprecedented in terms of its size. They promise a narrative prequel to Dark Souls, five unique worlds, new items and mechanics, voiced NPCs with their own quests, cooperative play, and elements from other FromSoftware games.
