While the expansive Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring is yet to be released, game director and FromSoftware president, Hidetaka Miyazaki, is already discussing the Japanese studio’s next project.
In an interview with PC Gamer, Miyazaki revealed that developing such a large and ambitious game like Elden Ring was not without its challenges, branding the process as complex and time-consuming.
“As a creator, I derived genuine pleasure [from the Elden Ring development process]. More than anything else in the world, I want to recreate this experience,” Miyazaki declared.
Miyazaki went on to note that games of this scale are not immune to shortcomings and Elden Ring was no exception. However, user feedback will enable FromSoftware to take a step forward.
“So I would be greatly pleased to take the not so successful elements of Elden Ring and improve upon them in a future game using [audience feedback],” Miyazaki assured.
Miyazaki did not specify the exact shortcomings of Elden Ring. Critics lambasted the game at launch for its conservative approach to gameplay, empty open world, and recurring enemies and bosses.
What FromSoftware will work on after Shadow of the Erdtree remains unclear. Still, Miyazaki recently hinted at a new Armored Core. The add-on is slated for a June 21 release, and journalists recently shared fresh gameplay and screenshots.
