Less than Two Weeks before Release, Over Half of Steam Players are Not Ready for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Expansion

With less than two weeks left until the release of Elden Ring’s first and only addition, Shadow of the Erdtree, it appears that the majority of players are not ready for this large-scale expansion.

It should be remembered that to gain access to Shadow of the Erdtree, players are required to defeat two bosses— Radan, known as the Scourge of the Stars in the first half of the game, and Mog, the Blood Master in a location for high-level players.

The situation with Mog is further complicated, he resides in a hard-to-reach area that is not easy to access. Players will either have to assemble a secret medallion and reach the teleport in a distant location or complete a quest chain from one of the NPCs.

The main hurdle for gamers on their path to Shadow of the Erdtree will likely be Mog. As noted by the streamer CohhCarnage, more than half of the players still haven’t won the trophy for defeating the boss:

In response to CohhCarnage’s message, Bandai Namco (the publisher of Elden Ring) reminded gamers of the requirements for Shadow of the Erdtree. Less than 24 hours after the streamer’s tweet, the Steam indicator went from 62.2% to 61.3%.

Storyline add-ons typically require reaching specific stages of the story, such as the “Blood and Wine” for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, though there are exceptions: the “Ghost Freedom” for Cyberpunk 2077 can be started from the main menu.

Shadow of the Erdtree will be released on June 21 for PC (priced at 2399 rubles in Russian Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S. Journalists who had the opportunity to try it recently revealed what to expect from the expansion.
