CEO of AMD, Lisa Su, has magnified her net worth due to the growth of the company that once laid claim to only a tenth of the processor market. As per Forbes, Su’s net worth is now over $1.1 billion. Notably, AMD’s stocks have for a while surpassed those of its competitor Intel.
This success story is pivotal for Su, who took over AMD nearly ten years ago when the company was in a far more deplorable state. Until 2016, AMD’s stock price varied between $2 and $4. However, it ended last week at $172.48 per share, showing more than a 100% increase over the past 12 months. According to Forbes, Su owns approximately $700 million in company stocks and since 2016 she has sold stocks worth a total of $400 million. But the estimated $1.1 billion net worth is approximated since other investment returns and her role as a board member at Cisco, might contribute to her income as well.
Competitor NVIDIA showcased a much more impressive stock price trajectory, and its founder, Jensen Huang, holds assets of far greater value. Huang’s wealth was estimated at $40 billion in November last year, and it has effortlessly crossed the $60 billion mark since then. Su’s success story of steering a troubled company out of crisis and landing on the 26th spot in the list of self-made American female billionaires serves as an important personal achievement.
