“Looks Much Better than Bloodlines 2”: Players Impressed by Fan-Made Remake of the Original Vampire the Masquerade Using the Skyrim Engine

Modder group Galejro has unveiled a new gameplay video for their extensive modification project, Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption Reawakened. The modification transfers the prequel of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim engine.

The developers showcased London gameplay, including battles featuring magic and firearms, facilitated by another mod — Gunslinger by DeclineDown. The protagonist of Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption ventures into London and New York in the game’s latter half, as the narrative shifts to the late 20th century. The events of the first half take place in Prague and Vienna in the 12th century. The Polish development team demonstrated the Polish segment of the remodeled game here and last year.

The video has received numerous positive reviews, with users frequently noting the faithfully recaptured series atmosphere and successfully reworked shootouts. The weapon interaction animations, in particular, have been praised, with players asserting that they significantly outperformed those in Fallout 4 and Starfield. Many believe that the mod will ultimately prove more impressive than the franchise’s next official installment — Vampire the Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.

Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption represents the first installment in the series and a quasi-prequel to Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. The game was developed by Nihilistic Software and released by Activision for PC in 2000. Players embody Christof Romuald, a French crusader turned vampire after death, as he journeys through centuries in his quest to regain his humanity and locate his kidnapped lover, Anezka. The game introduces a humanity system where certain actions impact the ending. Player can be assisted by up to three allies.

At its launch, Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption faced a mixed reception. Critics lauded its graphics, ambiance, and narrative while conversely critiquing the conditions of linearity, weak AI companions, and a plethora of technical issues due in part to the developers’ focus on advanced graphics.

An intense moment from the game

At present, a release date has not been set for Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption Reawakened.
