MTS Launches a Master’s Program in Artificial Intelligence at the Higher School of Economics

At the True Tech Day 2.0 technology conference for IT professionals, the Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) company announced the launch of a master’s program in “Artificial Intelligence Research and Entrepreneurship” at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE).

The objective of the Master’s program is to train and prepare future AI researchers capable of inventing and implementing innovative products and technology solutions. These solutions would harness cutting-edge machine and deep learning methods like large language models, generative neural networks, and tools for computer vision and natural language recognition. The faculty for this master’s program includes leading experts from the HSE Computer Science Department and members from MTS’s digital ecosystem, specifically MTS AI.

“Today, artificial intelligence tools touch almost all sectors of the economy and are drivers of the country’s digital development. The launch of the joint Master’s program of HSE and MTS offers an opportunity to acquire a popular profession and start your own business. A year ago, we opened the basic department of MTS at the Computer Science Faculty, and the creation of a Master’s degree is a logical continuation of our collaboration. We are grateful to MTS for its support in unlocking our students’ potential and for their joint work on current projects in the field of artificial intelligence”, commented Leonid Gokhberg, the first Vice-Rector of HSE.

The application period for the Master’s program in “Artificial Intelligence Research and Entrepreneurship” will run from June 19 to July 25, 2024. Classes will begin in September. The duration of the course is two years with full-time study mode. There are 30 fee-paying spots available, with MTS funding covering 100% of the education costs.

The program targets graduates from bachelor’s/specialist degree programs in mathematics, technical, and IT faculties, as well as anyone interested in researching startups in the field of artificial intelligence and disciplines relevant to it. The pre-requisite skills needed for admission include programming, strong mathematical preparation, knowledge of statistics, and machine learning.
