Streaming giant Netflix, in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics, has announced the release date for the animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. The announcement was accompanied by a new teaser trailer.
Confirmation and Anticipation
The production of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft was confirmed in 2021, but fans had to wait until last fall for the show’s debut. The premiere was originally scheduled for 2024.
It has now been confirmed that the creators of the animated series will meet the set deadlines – Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft will debut exclusively on the Netflix service on October 10 of this year.
Teaser Trailer and Plot
The showcased teaser trailer for The Legend of Lara Croft gives snippets from the show and teases the storyline. A voice-over poses the question, “Miss Croft, danger is your friend. How long can you persevere?“
The show’s events unfold after Shadow of the Tomb Raider. According to the plot, the Croft family has a dangerous Chinese artifact stolen. In her search for the relic, the protagonist will visit forgotten tombs and face her true nature.
Production and Voice Cast
Legendary Television is in charge of producing The Legend of Lara Croft, and actress Hayley Atwell, known for her role as Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, provides the voice for the main character.
Other Projects in the Franchise
As for other projects in the Tomb Raider franchise, alongside The Legend of Lara Croft, a live-action series from Amazon MGM Studios is in production. Additionally, a new game is being developed which will be published by Amazon Games.
