Samsung Expands Auracast, 360 Audio and Auto Switch Features to Buds 2, Buds FE and Buds 2 Pro
Samsung has announced the roll-out of its state-of-the-art audio technologies – Auracast, 360 Audio and Auto Switch, across a wider range of devices. Though these features were supported earlier by certain devices, the manufacturer is now expanding their prevalence. Updates incorporating these features will start being available for Samsung Galaxy Buds 2, Buds FE and Buds 2 Pro by the end of February.
Based on the Bluetooth protocol, Auracast technology allows a single device to broadcast audio to theoretically unlimited receivers such as wireless headphones and speakers. Last year, Samsung announced support for this technology on its Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and the latest TV models, and the technology is also present on the Galaxy S24 series smartphones.
The company has now extended the list of devices that can source or receive Auracast. Devices running Samsung One UI 6.1 and higher including the Galaxy S23, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Tab S9 tablets will now be able to transmit Auracast sound. Additionally, devices running One UI 5.1.1 will also be able to act as Auracast receivers, thereby adding Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, A54 5G, M54 5G, Tab S9 FE and Tab Active 5 5G tablets to the list.
Samsung Galaxy Buds headphones will also receive support for the AI translation feature, which debuted on the Galaxy S24 series: the translated audio stream will be broadcast to the headphones allowing for real-time translation. Additionally, the 360 Audio spatial sound technology will be expanded to Neo QLED and OLED TVs. Previously, this feature was supported by select Samsung smartphones and tablets and works with the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and Buds 2 headphones.
Finally, Samsung also highlighted the Auto Switch feature, which switches the Bluetooth connection of Galaxy Buds 2 Pro from a tablet or TV to a phone when an incoming call is received. This feature will now be available on Galaxy Book laptops with Samsung One UI 6.0.
