Square Enix: PC Version of Final Fantasy XVI to Have “Fairly High” System Requirements and a Demo Coming Soon

Final Fantasy XVI PC Version Development Nearing Completion

During an interview with Game Informer, Naoki Yoshida, the producer of the role-playing action game Final Fantasy XVI, offered insights into the development status of the yet-to-be-announced PC version of the game.

Square Enix’s Progress on Final Fantasy XVI PC Version

Square Enix had mentioned the PC version of Final Fantasy XVI during the game’s announcement. At the time of the PS5 edition launch, the PC adaptation was under development and needed further optimization.

Developer team of the Final Fantasy XVI PC version is currently dealing with the “final stages of optimization”, according to Yoshida. The speed at which the team accomplishes this will dictate the release timetable.

System Requirements and Demo Version Announcement

Yoshida noted that the system requirements for Final Fantasy XVI will be “quite high”. A demo version of the PC variant will be released prior to the launch, allowing gamers to test the game’s performance on their devices.

While Yoshida could not offer specific details, he assured fans that they will not have to wait too long for the upcoming announcements. “It’s certainly not going to be a year or two. Surely earlier. Stay tuned,” Yoshida encouraged.

Upcoming Event and Territory Sales

The PAX East 2024 festival will start in Boston on March 22, where Square Enix is expected to share details about The Rising Tide, an extension to Final Fantasy XVI. The PC version of the game may also be introduced at the event.

Final Fantasy XVI made its debut on PS5 on June 22, 2023, and sold 3 million copies in six days. Unofficial reports suggest that the PC version of the game will not be exclusive to the Epic Games Store.
