Three years post the launch of Windows 11, Microsoft is set to append labels to icons such as “Copy” and “Cut”, among others, which were previously deemed inconvenient, as per users’ feedback. These alterations are primarily targeted at the drop-down context menu, commonly called by the right mouse click, in the “Explorer”.
These icon-only labels were reported as not sufficiently informative by some users, resulting in extended periods in search of the right buttons to operate files. Now, in the Windows 11 Insider Preview Program rolled out on February 14, the labels finally made their debut with build 26058. It’s noteworthy to mention that these labels are also available in the stable version of Windows 11, but they only appear as pop-up suggestions upon hovering the cursor over the icon.
Furthermore, to cater to individuals with limited abilities, the developers have integrated a unique, customizable “crosshair” feature for cursor highlighting. The updated build also expands the functionality of widgets, and improves the weather display on the lock screen.
Despite the considerable developments tested in the Dev and Canary branches, it’s crucial to note that all these changes may not necessarily be included in the final updates of the Windows 11 operating system.
