I couldn’t install it. The first error message said something along the lines of “A previous version of Voice Command was found on this device. Please uninstall it and try again. So I uninstalled v. 1.1 and tried again. The second message was: “No previous version of Microsoft Voice Command US PPC 1.50 was not found on this machine. The setup cannot continue.”

Pretty funny catch 22 there, double negative and all.

I got the same error when I did it. I was under the assumption that it should work with the 6315.

you have to first uninstall voice command then install 1.56. I was able to install it with no hitch on my xv6600*

I can’t see any new features of Microsoft Voice command 1.5 from its previous version but I doubt that now it supports the ipaq phone h6300 series. And this software works well with my h6365. (Ratings: 10 out of 10).

I did get it installed and it works very good. I especially like the ability to just say call and the name and it will dial the phone. This is great feature while driving.

I thought my install problem was that I had installed 1.01 from my home pc and was trying to upgrade to 1.5 from my office pc. So I reinstalled 1.01 from my office pc, and then tried the upgrade. I got the same error message. I then called the non-toll free Microsoft support number printed in the manual, and after 15 pleasant minutes on the phone with Vish she told me that primary support for Microsoft Voice Command is by the hardware manufacturer. Microsoft only offered two options, first through the web page, and second a call back from Microsoft at a charge of $35. I expressed some surprise, and she confirmed this through her supervisor. I don’t find 1.01 works very well and I thought 1.5 would improve things.

Hazarry, I’m not sure I follow your message. You doubt that Voice Command now supports the ipaq phone h6300 series?

Here is all you do… Uninstall everything on your PC and your iPAQ. Then install the software. It shouldnt give you any problems.

Thanks, that worked. I unstalled Activesync, uninstalled Voice Command on both devices, did a hard reset of the 6315. Then I installed Activesync 3.8 (which worked, although it hung for a long time at 92%) and synched. Then I installed Voice Command 1.01 on the PC (without synching), then installed 1.5 over it, and then synched. At that point it installed and seems to be working much better than 1.01. I noticed it has AGC instructions for the 6315 now (setting 2).

Actually, I had to do all that a couple of times, because you can’t install 1.5 without 1.01 being installed on the PC, and you can’t install 1.5 after 1.01 has been installed on the 6315. That is certainly counterintuitive for an upgrade.

Phone status is new from 1.01

The whole Phone Status section is new from version 1.01… It includes pretty cool stuff: Phone Status You can set the ring volume and configure flight mode plus learn the battery level, signal strength, date and time using voice commands. Say What time is it? to hear the current time. What date is it? to hear the current date. What is my battery level? to hear the current battery level. Turn flight mode on to turn on flight mode and disable all wireless radios including Bluetooth, WIFI and cellular phone. Turn flight mode off to turn off flight mode and restore the previous state of all wireless radios including Bluetooth, WIFI and cellular phone. The following require a Pocket PC Phone Edition or Smartphone What is my signal strength? to hear the current state of the phone on the network. What calls have I missed? What missed calls do I have? to hear each missed call and reset the missed call count. Set Ringer High Set Ringer Loud to set ringer volume to 5 Set Ringer Medium Set Ringer Middle to set ringer volume to 3 Set Ringer Low Set Ringer Soft to set ringer volume to 1 Set Ringer Quiet Set Ringer Off Set Ringer Mute to set ringer volume to off Set Ringer Vibrate to set ringer to vibrate

Mmmmm….beer.

These are neat things. It responded fine to “turn flight mode on” but when I tried “turn flight mode off”, it started *all* the radios, not just the GPRS radio that I had on. So I’m not sure about “restore the previous state”. Does it work that way for you?

You all have sparked interest in this program…but where is the voice command located? Its not in my programs, so I assume its part of the install cd and I neglected to load it. Am I assuming correctly?

Voice Command is an add-on product from Microsoft. It is not included with any 63xx model.

I just installed Microsoft Voice Command 1.5, and the BEST thing that I’ve discovered that nobody has mentioned is that they fixed the problem where you had to delay saying a response for about 1 second. It would always screw up for me when it would say “CALL JOHN DOE AT HOME?” and I’d immediately say “CORRECT”, then nothing would happen. This is fixed in 1.5. THANK YOU MICROSOFT!

VoiceCommand 1.5 and 6315 – screen never comes on.

I still get a lock-up (or something similar) on my 6315 after using voicecommand 1.5. When I press the on button after the PPC turns itself off after using VC or if I turn the PPC off, the 6315 appears as if it is turning on (the bluetooth light starts to blink) but the screen never wakes up. Pressing the on button again does not appear to turn the unit off as the bluetooth light still blinks. This may be a conflict with other software, but I seem to remember seeing others report this problem a while back with version 1.01. I never found a solution, obviously, but maybe someone here knows of a workaround?

VC 1.5 was actually optimized for the 6315. It used to be that the mic would take up to 800 ms to open and start sampling audio data. That is no longer a problem on the 6315 and you should be able to talk the moment that you see the microphone icon.
