New Certification Paves the Way for Extended Range
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT) has officially published a certification request for the Xpeng G6 EREV-a significant step forward for a model that aims to redefine extended-range electric vehicle capabilities.
Technical Specifications and Capabilities
An electric vehicle with a twist, the G6 EREV will feature a 55.8 kWh battery, supporting a robust 325 km range on pure electric power under the WTLC standards. This accomplishment is paired with a 1.5-liter turbo engine generating 110 kW, provided by Dong’an Powertrain, and a rear electric motor delivering an impressive 218 kW. The design mirrors its fully electric counterpart, the G6, retaining dimensions of 4771 x 1920 x 1650 mm with a wheelbase of 2890 mm. Maximum speed tops out at a remarkable 202 km/h.

Design and Innovation
The G6 EREV incorporates sleek design elements like a fastback roof, continuous LED daylight running lights at both front and rear, as well as flush door handles and wheels as options in either R18 or R20. This design not only underscores aerodynamics and energy efficiency but also adds to its aesthetic appeal.
Strategic Vision: Kunpeng Super Electric System
Part of the Kunpeng Super Electric System, Xpeng’s strategy focuses on delivering affordable electric vehicles with extraordinary range capabilities. Although the total range isn’t specified by MIIT documents, previous reports have suggested that certain EREV models may reach ranges up to 1400 km-potentially setting a benchmark in the market. The smaller battery compared to its purely electric counterpart is anticipated to reduce both cost and vehicle weight, broadening consumer accessibility.
