Bethesda Adds AMD FSR 3 and Intel XeSS Support to Starfield on PC – Update Exits Beta Phase

Bethesda Game Studios has announced that patch 1.9.67 for their space-themed role-playing game Starfield has successfully completed nearly two weeks of beta testing and is now available for all users in full release format. Communication of this transition was made public recently.

Main Features of Patch 1.9.67

Notably, patch 1.9.67 introduces two novel image enhancement techniques to the game: AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) of the third generation and Intel Xe Super Sampling (XeSS).

Given Starfield’s exclusive partnership with AMD on the PC version, the game was originally released with the embedded support for second generation AMD FSR. NVIDIA DLSS was incorporated later, but it consisted of the latest version then.

Update Features Beyond Imaging

The update, aside from new imaging technologies, also includes alterations to form identifiers, FormID, a parameter of in-game objects. This change is expected to enhance stability in save games that involve a high count of visited locations.

Developers also rectified the “vibrating” clouds and enhanced the stability of image resizing while switching from fullscreen mode to windowed mode during the use of DLSS- among other minor improvements.

Future Developments

Upon transitioning from the “beta” version, patch 1.9.67 is now accessible on all other target platforms of Starfield beyond Steam – including the Microsoft Store, Xbox Series X, S. However, implementation of FSR 3 and XeSS is not available on consoles.

Throughout 2024, developers plan to introduce city maps, new ways of navigation, and modification support in Starfield. They have also pledged to release updates every six weeks.
