Nice, couple items to note from the pdf if you bring in an unlocked 63xx 1)Make sure that the mobile account is properly provisioned by contacting customer service and having the service representative verify that Wireless Internet or Wireless Internet Express is activated on the account. 2) If the phone was purchased with Cingular settings the Customer Service Representative can perform additional troubleshooting for handset connectivity challenges. 3) If the handset does not have the Cingular settings installed from the OEM, Cingular can not support the troubleshooting of the handset configuration.

Of course you guys in this forum will be more help than the Customer Service

Yeah, that disclaimer gave me a chuckle as well. Did you catch the line near the beginning about “Cingular approved radio equipment”? My unlocked Treo 600 works like a champ, so an h63xx should be fairly straghtforward.

I just got my h6365 from Doml (Singapore) yesterday and it works like a charm on Cingular. The only config I had to do was switch the phone band from defalut 900/1800 to 850/1900. All other settings were on the SIM already and everything works great. I’m seeing ~.2s lower latencies and ~5kpbs faster speeds than on my Treo 600. I’m quite pleased.

Dumb Questions – 6300 CAN Be Used With Cingular???

Have been reading the reviews of the 6300 and it sounds excellent. I’m a longtime Ipaq user and really want to get this model. Can you buy it without signing up with T-Mobile? Can I use it with my Cingular service?

Yes, you can buy the h6365 from retailers in Singapore. It’s unlocked and can be used with Cingular. There seems to be a bug in all h63xx devices which prevents sending e-mail attachments via GPRS, however. The user community is working hard on this issue.

Unlocking of a T-Mobile Unit

In fear of repeating the obvious other disucussions: The easiest thing to do is simply talk to any friends/coworkers who have T-Mobile and have them call customer service asking them for it. As long as they have been a customer for 90 days, they will simply as for their account information and basic info. on the unit….and in less than 24 hours you will have an e-mail with the lovely 8 digit unlock code. I purchased my first PDA and what a purchase…the 6315 is EXCELLENT! I even love the fact that there is no programming necessary. Once the SIM is read, it automatically configures all GSM settings by reading them from the network. The only configuration you have to setup are the GPRS settings which are in itself quite simple as well. I’m extremely happy with the unit.

Now…does anyone know how to change the settings in the “Today screen” and change the T-Mobile bar around a bit?

Nope, the unlock codes are specific to each phones IMEI number.

Hi, Im new and a big fan of this series PDA. So let me get this straight, I currently have a Motorola V220 phone from Cingular and I love their service. If I bought an iPaq h6315, could I switch out the SIM card with the one in my current phone and keep the same service without any changes?

You would have to add a data package. The data package that Cingular offers for the phones is not the same data package as they offer for the PDA’s. You might check with Cingular and they can check what you have and let you know what you might need. I do know that you can definitely take the card from your phone and put it in the IPAQ and use the phone portion of the IPAQ. I have tried that. Just remember you will have to get T-Mobile to give you the unlock code for your phone or you will have to purchase an unlocked version from ebay.

Anyone with a REAL answer to the MMS/POP3 Cingular/6315 problem? I’ve searched everywhere and there aren’t any REAL answers to getting MMS to work on Cingular on a 6315. If you’ve got what I’m looking for to make this thing work, I’m missing out on a lot of fun stuff because it doesn’t work – STEP UP TO THE PLATE!

I finally got my little buddy unlocked, and it’s working great! I even got GPRS to work, although I’m not sure it’s with the correct settings. I only have the MEdia net plan, which I know is not supposed to work with PDA’s and laptops, but it seems to be working fine. I’m going to not surf much in the meantime just to ensure it gets billed as if a wireless phone did the surfing.

My question is how to setup the email access on it? I want my iPAQ to constantly download email and alert me when new email arrives (just like a blackberry). They are capable of this, right? I tried going to Microsoft here: https://mywindowsmobile.com/?pn=Mob…b9e9d410f9ba433

and entered the settings, and I got the SMS, and it seems like it downloaded, but nothing really changed, and it doesn’t seem like it worked. Anyone have any advice on where to go from here?

Thanks
