Bandai Namco’s publishing house and developers from FromSoftware studios have released a story trailer for the massive expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, to the open-world action fantasy role-playing game, Elden Ring.
Shadow of the Erdtree’s events unfold in the Erd Tree’s concealed lands of Shadows, where gamers will follow in the footsteps of the eternal child Mikella, a demigod and brother to Malenia, who never appeared in the base game.
The new Shadow of the Erdtree trailer offers some related insights into the add-on’s precursor events: an unseen war, the tyranny of Messmer’s flame, and Mikella’s renunciation of her flesh, power, and even fate.
Elden Ring fans have greeted the Shadow of the Erdtree trailer with both delight and puzzled looks. Despite the storytelling nature of the trailer, it does not divulge much. “Didn’t understand anything, but I’m in,”, reported sazz from the ResetEra forum.
Shadow of the Erdtree includes new plot-lines with drama and intrigue intertwining, puzzles, perilous dungeons, adversaries, bosses, weapon varieties, skills for them, equipment, and spells, along with Russian language translation.
Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director of Elden Ring, said that Shadow of the Erdtree will be the most significant expansion in FromSoftware’s history: the size of the add-on map will be comparable to the main game’s Graveyard.
The Shadow of the Erdtree will be released on 21st June on PC (available for pre-order on Steam in Russia), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S. Miyazaki recently clarified why the add-on will be the first and last for Elden Ring.
