Insider Dismisses Rumors of the First Resident Evil Remake as “Complete Nonsense” and Clarifies Release Date for Resident Evil 9.

Industry insider, AestheticGamer (also known as Dusk Golem), has commented on the recent rumors of a second remake of the original Resident Evil, as well as providing new information about the timeline for the next numerical release in the series.

In mid-May, the Arab fan community for Resident Evil suggested that the 30th anniversary of the game would be marked with a remake. This speculation was backed by fellow insider, DanielRPK.

AestheticGamer has labeled the rumors of a remake in development for the original Resident Evil as “nonsense”. He mentions further that a reinterpretation of Resident Evil 5 is not in the works either, contrary to insinuations by Capcom within the updated Resident Evil 4.

According to Dusk Golem, fans should look forward to upgrades being made to the Resident Evil Code: Veronica (2000) and the prequel to the original game, Resident Evil Zero (2002). Both remakes are reportedly in production.

In regards to Resident Evil 9, AestheticGamer reported in late April of rumors suggesting a delay until post-2025. However, a week later, he refuted this claim, saying the announcement is “quite soon”, with the release set for January 2025.

AestheticGamer has since apologized for the confusion, now stating that the April information was accurate: Resident Evil 9 will not be announced this summer, and its release has been postponed to late 2025 or early 2026.

Dusk Golem has previously claimed that Resident Evil 9 has the largest budget and the longest development cycle (beginning in early 2018) in the series’ history. If the insider’s claims are to be believed, the game will also feature open-world gameplay.
