Nine Years After Release, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for PC Receives REDkit Mod Editor and Steam Workshop Support

Polish game developers, CD Projekt Red have announced a new update for the PC version of their popular fantasy action RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This update provides support for the REDkit mod editor.

The update, which reportedly takes up around 3GB of storage, brings several changes that make it easier to handle user-generated mods, according to CD Projekt Red.

Notably, CD Projekt Red has equipped The Witcher 3 with Steam Workshop support – players can now install any available mod from the Steam Workshop at the press of the “Subscribe” button.

The developers emphasized that fans can still upload mods for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt via Nexus Mods and similar platforms – Steam Workshop integration does not impede this functionality.

With the introduction of the update, Steam Workshop now also supports DLC mods, making it easier to add new world ID’s in mods.

Constructed with tools used for developing The Witcher 3, REDkit is designed to offer mod creators nearly infinite freedom. The editor debuted on May 21st and is free for all who own the game on PC.

While The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, S and Nintendo Switch, the REDkit will remain exclusive to the PC version. On May 19th, the game celebrated its ninth anniversary.
