The Summer Game Fest 2024 is approaching, and the first wave of partners has been announced by the organizers. One confirmed participant is already capturing players’ attention with a possible reveal.
Over 55 Companies to Participate
More than 55 companies are expected to participate in the Summer Game Fest:
- Platform holders — PlayStation, Steam, Epic Games, Xbox, Meta✴, Samsung (Gaming Hub);
- Western publishers — 2K, Amazon Games, Annapurna Interactive, Atari, Deep Silver, Devolver Digital, Electronic Arts, Focus Entertainment, Plaion, Netflix Games, Private Division, Ubisoft, WB Games, Thunderful Games, and Wizards of the Coast (Magic the Gathering);
- Eastern publishers — Bandai Namco, Capcom, Sega, Level Infinite, NCSoft, NetEase Games, Nexon, and SNK;
- Game development studios — Arc Games, Blumhouse Games, Bokeh Game Studio, Embark Studios, Funcom, HoYoverse, Innersloth, Ironmace, Jyamma Games, Niantic, Pocketpair, Recreate Games, Riot Games, S-Game, Seasun Games, Sunblink, Supercell, TiMi Studio Group, Torn Banner Studios and Uncapped Games,
- Non-gaming related companies — iam8bit, Discord, Dolby, Razer, and Indie Angels;
- The initiative Day of the Devs.
Jeff Keighley, the organizer and curator of Summer Game Fest 2024, added that more participants will be confirmed later, and this is just a first look at the festival’s partners.
Anticipated Announcement from 2K
As for the tease by one of the participants of Summer Game Fest 2024, the organizers mentioned that 2K is preparing an announcement for the festival’s opening ceremony: a “next installment of one of its biggest and beloved franchises.”
Fans are eagerly anticipating sequels such as Borderlands 4 (recently acquired by Take-Two), BioShock 4, and Mafia 4. As Sxnseiiii joked, “It will be funny when it turns out to be NBA 2K25.”
The new “Mafia” game is in the works and is rumored to be announced soon. BioShock seems to be stuck in development, while Borderlands 4’s confirmation is still pending, though hints have been noted.
Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony of Summer Game Fest 2024 will begin on June 8th at 0:00 Moscow time and is expected to last about two hours. Viewers can anticipate announcements, trailers, and a first look at “the most anticipated games” as well as “what to expect from the gaming industry moving forward.”
