Vindigo Enters Mobile Games Arena

Vindigo, a leading mobile media company, today announced its entry into the rapidly growing mobile games market. Vindigo will release a broad selection of adventure and casual games in 2005, beginning with a fantasy graphic adventure game based on the bestselling Shadowgate franchise. The award-winning Shadowgate from Infinite Ventures has sold more than 1.5 half million copies worldwide on multiple platforms, making it a winning lead game title for Vindigo.

With more than 5 million downloads of local information, personalization, and entertainment products and a distribution network including all top-tier wireless carriers, Vindigo leads the market for mobile media in the U.S. The company is extending this leadership by targeting other mobile content categories with tremendous growth potential, including games.

“Vindigo’s entertainment products are already bestsellers on U.S. wireless carriers,” said Jason Devitt, president and chief executive officer of Vindigo. “We’re now taking our insight into the mobile consumer and our expertise in designing easy-to-use, compelling content for mobile phones and applying it to games – one of the most exciting categories in mobile media.”

Vindigo’s entry into the games market has been led by noted industry insider and Vindigo advisor Eric Goldberg. The company has hired mobile games pioneer Leonard Quam as Director of Games and game industry veteran John Astell to lead its game design team. The company has assembled an A-list of third party developers and licensees.

Shadowgate Comes to Mobile Phones

Vindigo chose the award-winning Shadowgate from Infinite Ventures as its lead game product because of its enduring popularity and gameplay, which set it apart from current mobile games. Shadowgate’s rich fantasy setting and dramatic illustrations envelop players in a vast world that they must explore to uncover the mysteries, solve the puzzles, and defeat the monsters of Castle Shadowgate. Designed to appeal to both casual gamers and avid adventure game players, the game delivers more than ten hours of gameplay. Shadowgate is scheduled to launch on major U.S. wireless carriers in May on BREW and in summer on J2ME. For more information on mobile media from Vindigo, visit www.vindigo.com.
